How we evaluate apps

We look at four things, in this order:

• Who is actually on it. An app with great features and no users in your area is useless to you.
• What the free tier really allows. Most limits only show up after you sign up.
• Safety and moderation. Reporting tools, verification, and how quickly bad accounts get removed.
• Cancellation friction. How hard it is to stop paying.

When we do not know something, we say so instead of guessing. Pricing and features change often, so check the app's own page before you pay for anything.
